The Pin Edit · Style Guide No. 01
Tiny details.
Big personality.
A good outfit doesn’t need more stuff. Sometimes it just needs one small thing that feels like you.
Enamel pins turn an everyday jacket, bag or hat into something a little more personal. Here’s how to find the right spot, build a combination you actually love, and keep your favourite pieces comfortable to wear.
Give your denim
a little attitude.
A denim jacket is an easy place to start. Try one pin on a chest pocket or a flat area near the collar. Keep it clear of thick seams, buttons and folds so the design sits neatly.
For a quieter look, choose one design and let the denim do the rest. Want a small collection? Group a few pins near one pocket rather than spreading them evenly across the whole jacket.

Make a plain tote
less plain.
A sturdy canvas tote gives a pin plenty of space without competing with the design. Start on the upper front panel, where you can reach the backing from inside the bag.
Avoid straps, zip tracks and areas that constantly rub against your body. On a backpack, a flat pocket panel can work well—but check that the back of the pin won’t catch on anything inside.
A text pin makes an especially good focal point on a simple bag. Leave some blank canvas around it so the message stays easy to read.
Meet the This Calls for a Spreadsheet Pin →One pin. One good hat.
On a cap or bucket hat, a single small pin often feels more intentional than a crowded cluster. Try the side of the crown for an understated detail, or an off-centre position on the front for a stronger focal point.
Take the hat off before attaching anything. Choose a spot where the backing won’t press against your head, and avoid rigid brim panels or the sweatband. If the fabric is thin, stretchy or delicate, save the pin for a sturdier piece.
A little composition goes a long way
A collection, not a crowd.
Pick a leading character.
Start with the pin you love most. Add one or two companions only if they make the whole arrangement feel better. One pin is a complete look, too.
Find a common thread.
Repeat a colour, a mood or a subject. A pink flower can echo a pink shirt; a funny work pin can join another tiny everyday frustration.
Leave room to breathe.
Keep a little space between designs. Step back and check the whole outfit instead of judging the arrangement only from a few inches away.
Want an easy colour pairing? Try the Yellow BELIEVE Sign Pin against blue denim. Its yellow-and-blue palette makes one small detail feel considered, without taking over your outfit.
Before you pin it
A few small care notes.
- Choose the fabric first. Pin posts pierce fabric and can leave marks. Avoid leather, silk, delicate knits and coated or waterproof materials if you don’t want permanent holes.
- Check the fit. Attach the pin gently and secure its backing. Check it again after putting the item on and before heading out.
- Remove before washing. Take pins off before laundering, swimming or prolonged exposure to moisture. Follow the care instructions for both the accessory and the fabric.
- Store with the backing on. Keep sharp posts and small parts away from children and pets.
Good questions
The quick answers.
Where should I put an enamel pin on a jacket?
A flat chest-pocket area or a spot near the collar is a useful starting point. Avoid thick seams, check the backing position, and make sure it feels comfortable when the jacket is on.
Can I wear enamel pins on any bag?
Not every material is suitable. Sturdy woven canvas is usually easier to work with than delicate, coated or waterproof fabrics. Remember that a pin makes a hole, even if the design is small.
How many pins should I wear together?
There’s no required number. Begin with one focal pin, then add others if you like the balance. A small, spaced-out group keeps individual designs easier to see.
